Student FAQs
Our student accommodation operates on a first come basis. Once you know you are interested in coming to Galway for college, we would advise securing your place with us. Your place can only be secured with the deposit payment.
Yes. You will get your full deposit back at the end of the academic year once your rent is fully paid up to the date. Please note the deposit won’t be refunded if for any reason you cease your accommodation at Kinlay before the end of the academic year.
You will be with other students. If you have friends who are booked in let us know and we can make sure you are in the same room. If you don’t know anyone staying don’t worry, we will match you with roommates.
The prices are per person.
5-day student: €165 per week (€660 per month)
7-day students: €215 per week (€860 per month)
The payments will be automatically charged every 4 weeks.
Absolutely! Once you know which weekends you would like to stay, we can book you a place in a regular dorm with a student discount. This is subject to availability so once you know which weekends you’d like to stay speak to our student coordinator.
Our student accommodation is in 4-bed shared dorms, we do not have any single rooms available.

We accept students for the whole academic year only. If you need accommodation for just a couple of weeks you can check availability on our website www.kinlaygalway.ie
You will be in the room with 2 – 3 other students of the same gender. Your room will be strictly for students only. We are a tourist hostel, so common areas such as living rooms, kitchen and garden will be shared.
Yes. If you and your friends have all applied and secured their spots with deposits, we will keep you in the same room.
Every student will have a locker underneath the bed, which can be secured with a padlock. You will be most likely staying with the same students for the entire academic year, so after a week or two mutual trust between the roomies naturally occurs.
Kinlay is situated just around the corner from Eyre Square. a one-minute walk from the bus and train station and a 5 minute walk to the Coach Station, You can get to:
- ATU – in 12 min by bus, or by 28 min walk.
- University of Galway – in 6 min by bus or by 12 min walk.
